When the board thins out, calculation gives way to certainty. The CAISSA Endgame Tablebase brings that certainty to every legal position with seven pieces or fewer—kings included—using the Syzygy WDL and DTZ files that have become the standard for perfect endgame play.

Syzygy does not guess. For each position it records whether the side to move can force a win, hold a draw, or must lose with best play, and how many moves remain until a capture, a pawn move, or mate resets the fifty-move counter. That combination—result plus distance to a “zeroing” move—lets an engine convert a won ending without stumbling over the fifty-move rule, and lets a student see the exact path instead of a vague evaluation.

Use it to:

• Probe any position with 3–7 pieces and see the objective result at a glance
• Follow the shortest practical winning line, or the most stubborn defense
• Study classic technical endings—KRP vs KR, KBP vs KP, opposite-colored bishops with extra pawns—without relying on memory or engine search
• Confirm whether a “theoretical draw” is still a draw once the fifty-move rule is applied

The tables cover hundreds of millions of five-piece positions, billions of six-piece positions, and more than four hundred trillion seven-piece positions. CAISSA presents that archive as a quiet instrument: set the pieces, ask the question, and receive the answer the goddess of chess would have given if she kept a library.
