New Relic report: Chrome 19 is the fastest browser on Mac

New Relic report: Chrome 19 is the fastest browser on Mac

According to the latest browser report from New Relic, an earlier version of Google's Chrome browser - Chrome 19 - has been found to be the fastest browser on Apple's Mac systems.
Revealing that Chrome browser - version 23 of which was recently released - is fast becoming the most preferred browser for Web users who are looking for the fastest browsing experience, the New relic report showed that the Chrome 19 version beats all other browsers in terms of browsing speed on OS X.

Interestingly, as per the New relic report, the top five spots in the `fastest browsers' category have been bagged by different versions of the increasingly popular Chrome browser.

While Chrome 19 is right on top, the other four Chrome versions rounding out the first five places include Chrome 21, Chrome 22, Chrome 20, and Chrome 18. Following these five Chrome versions, on the browsing speed front, is version 15 of Mozilla's Firefox browser.

However, a full comparison of the fastest browsers shows that Chrome 19 for Linux boasts the fastest response times; followed by Chrome 19 for Mac, Chrome 21 for Mac, Chrome 20 for Mac, Chrome 18 for Mac and Firefox 15 for Mac. In this full comparison, Microsoft's Interner\t Explorer 10 was at the eighth spot with regard to response-time speed.

Microsoft releases IE 10 browser for Windows 7

By MICHAEL LIEDTKE | Associated Press2 hrs 54 mins ago

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The latest version of Microsoft's Web browser is now available to the vast audience connecting to the Internet on personal computers running on the Windows 7 operating system.

The redesigned browser, Internet Explorer 10, made its debut last month when Microsoft released Windows 8, which makes dramatic changes to an operating system that has been powering PCs for decades.

Internet Explorer 10 initially is being introduced Tuesday to Windows 7 users in a "preview," or test, mode. The new browser isn't compatible with XP, Vista and any other older Windows version.

Although Microsoft is staking its future on Windows 8, far more PCs rely on Windows 7. Microsoft Corp. says more than 670 million licenses for Windows 7 have been sold since its release in 2009. Windows 8 is unlikely to approach that level of usage until at least 2014, based on analyst forecasts.

Desktops, laptops and tablet computers running on Windows 8 are sold with Internet Explorer 10 already installed. Those with older Windows versions will have to download and install the new browser separately.

Although Internet Explorer 10 is supposed to process Web pages more quickly and smoothly than its predecessors, it may have limited appeal to Windows 7 users.
That's because Microsoft primarily designed Internet Explorer 10 for tablet computers and other devices, including a new breed of PCs that have touch-screen displays. Relatively few Windows 7 PCs can be controlled with fingers on a display screen.
Microsoft is hoping many website developers will download and install Internet Explorer 10 on their Windows 7 machines and see the browser's potential for making online services more compelling and dynamic. If that happens, more website may include features that take advantage of Internet Explorer 10's full capabilities on the bevy of Windows 8 machines expected to be sold during the next year, said Ryan Gavin, Microsoft's general manager for the browser.

Internet Explorer 10's main purpose is to make viewing websites as enjoyable and convenient as using applications tailor-made for specific mobile devices.
For instance, when reading an article on a news site, users of Internet Explorer 10 can just swipe across the screen to continue reading the next page instead of having to scroll down to click on a link, as most browsers require. Microsoft also says games such as "Contre Jour" played on Internet Explorer 10 will work as well, or even better, than those packaged in applications.

Realizing that goal is crucial to Microsoft as it tries to make a bigger splash in the smartphone and tablet markets. It probably will take years before mobile devices running on Windows 8 boast as many applications as their competitors, giving Microsoft an added incentive to build a superior Web browser. The mobile operating systems designed by Apple Inc. and Google Inc. each boast more than 700,000 applications.

Microsoft also hopes Internet Explorer 10 can reverse recent trends in the Web browser market. By some estimates, Google's Chrome browser has supplanted Internet Explorer as the world's most popular browser. Other research firms still assert that Internet Explorer remains the most widely used, although all measures show it has been losing market share to Chrome, Mozilla's Firefox and Apple's Safari.

Official disclosure of extraterrestrial life is imminent

An official announcement by the Obama administration disclosing the reality of extraterrestrial life is imminent. For several months, senior administration officials have been quietly deliberating behind closed doors how much to disclose to the world about extraterrestrial life. Dissatisfaction among powerful institutions such as the U.S. Navy over the decades-long secrecy policy has given a boost to efforts to disclose the reality of extraterrestrial life and technology.

The impending disclosure announcement follows upon the secret implementation of a year long openness policy on UFOs and extraterrestrial life. Over the period February 12-14, 2008, the United Nations held closed doors discussions where approximately 30 nations secretly agreed on a new openness policy on UFOs and extraterrestrial life in 2009. The openness policy was implemented but never publicly announced due to threats against UN diplomats not to disclose details of the secret agreement. h The secret UN agreement was based on two conditions. First, UFOs would continue to appear around the world; and second, the openness policy would not lead to social unrest in liberal democracies. Both conditions have been satisfied making it possible for the next stage to begin – official disclosure of extraterrestrial life.

Obama’s September 24, 2009 chairing of the UN Security Council meeting on nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament, signaled his emerging leadership role in tackling major global issues such as nuclear weapons. The Nobel Peace Prize was an important step in giving global legitimacy to President Obama in making an extraterrestrial disclosure announcement. Obama is therefore poised to play a prominent role in the increased global governance that will be necessary after an extraterrestrial disclosure announcement. The timing would most likely coincide sometime soon after his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech on December 10, 2009 in Oslo, Norway.

There have been various sources that have revealed deliberations are underway to make an announcement concerning the existence of extraterrestrial life by the end of 2009. These include, Dr Pete Peterson, a whistleblower who has recently emerged revealing high level discussions have taken place concerning announcing the existence of extraterrestrial life. In a Project Camelot interview, Dr Peterson revealed that “Obama is planning to disclose the reality of ET contact by the end of the year; and that most, but not all, of the ET visitors are friendly.”

Another source is David Wilcock, a prominent researcher of emerging scientific paradigms. Wilcock has been told by additional independent sources that extraterrestrial disclosure will take place by the end of 2009. He furthermore claimed in a Coast to Coast AM radio interview that “a 2-hour international TV special has already been booked that will introduce an alien species, similar to humans, to the world.”

In addition, popular NASA and space researcher, Richard Hoagland, has publicly come forward to reveal that the October 9, LCROSS ‘bombing’ mission of the moon, discovered an ancient base at the moon’s South Pole. Reviewing the scientific data achieved by NASA’s LCROSS mission, Hoagland concluded, also on the popular late night Coast to Coast AM radio show, that “LCROSS is part of a carefully constructed campaign to prepare the populace for imminent disclosure. The President of the United States will soon announce that scientists have discovered ruins on the moon, he added. Nobody saw the LCROSS debris plume because the probes struck a building which swallowed the effects of the explosion.”

Finally, two independent and confidential sources have revealed to me that face to face meetings have recently occurred between U.S. military officials with one or more groups of extraterrestrial visitors. This has allegedly led to confidence being built for future cooperation with the extraterrestrials that will be formally announced to the world public either at the end of 2009, or early 2010.

In conclusion, a diverse number of sources and events point to some form of extraterrestrial disclosure being made by the end of 2009, or early 2010. Official disclosure will most likely emerge in either of two scenarios. One is that President Obama will announce the existence of extraterrestrial visitors, and describe one or more of these to the world. This scenario is supported by Peterson, Wilcock, and my own confidential sources. The second scenario is that an announcement will be made concerning the discovery of artificial structures at the moon’s South Pole, as revealed by the LCROSS mission. This scenario is supported by Hoagland.

Which ever of the above scenarios is used for announcing the existence of extraterrestrial life or technology, President Obama will figure prominently. Behind the scenes, powerful institutions are ensuring that nothing derails the planned disclosure announcement. The disclosure will follow upon a year of greater government openness on UFOs in accord with a policy secretly developed at the United Nations. If extraterrestrial disclosure does occur at the end of 2009 or early 2010, President Obama will lead an unprecedented effort to promote global governance through the United Nations. The Obama administration and its supporters are poised to take a bold step forward in helping our planet become an interplanetary culture that openly deals with the challenges posed by extraterrestrial life.

10 People Who Time Traveled For Real

If one wants to travel through time, the only way to roll is in a speeding DeLorean with a plutonium-powered flux capacitor. Sounds crazy, right? Well, there are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

Thing is, we still don't know all that much about how the space-time continuum operates. So, is time travel possible? It depends on who you ask. From the government to an archaeologist to an extra in a Charlie Chaplin film, time travelers abound in legend, rumor, and documented "proof." Can we really send a man to the future and return him safely to the present? Judge the truth for yourself after perusing these time traveler stories.

Is the Government Conducting Time Travel Experiments?

Is the Government Conducting Time Travel Experiments?
The Montauk Air Force Station is rumored to house a massive, subterranean laboratory where top-secret government experiments in time travel are being conducted. Rumors began in the early 1980s when two men, Preston Nichols and Al Bielek, said that they had begun to recover suppressed memories of working in the lab. Many believe that the laboratory managed to create a "time tunnel," which allowed scientists to travel back to 1943.

A Time Portal in Versailles

A Time Portal in Versailles
In 1901, Anne Moberly and Eleanor Jourdain (above), the principal and vice-principal, respectively, of St. Hugh's College in Oxford, reported that they had accidentally slipped back in time. While visiting a small chateau on the grounds of Versailles, the women suddenly found themselves in the time of the French Revolution, where they reported seeing and interacting with people who they believed to be in the court of Marie Antoinette. The two women posthumously published an account of their tale, titling the book An Adventure.

A Portal in Liverpool

A Portal in Liverpool
Bold Street in Liverpool has gained quite the reputation recently. Many people have claimed that while on the street they have suddenly been transported back to the 1950s and '60s. According to a report called "On the Edge of Time" by Tim Swartz, a man walking along Bold Street slipped back in time to the 1950s. When he returned to their own time he recounted seeing the names of several historically accurate store signs.

A woman filmed outside the 1928 premiere of Charlie Chaplin's The Circus has convinced many people that time travel is real. The unidentified woman holds her hand up to her ear and talks to somebody, although no one is near her. But wait — there were no cell phones in 1928! Could this woman be a time traveler communicating with her contemporaries via mobile phone?

Known simply as VonHelton, this enigmatic figure suggests he might be part vampire, but asserts he is 100% time traveler. He has provided proof of his time travel prowess by lining up side-by-side photographs of himself starting in a studio in 1857 England, with stops in 1916 France, 1945 Berlin, and ending in the modern day in front of an American flag. Is he, in fact, a time traveler? Or is his "vampire gene" keeping him immortal?

Man Meets Himself

Man Meets Himself
Hakan Nordqvist was having a normal if irksome time fixing his leaky sink when he suddenly found himself crawling through a tunnel. At the end of the tunnel was Hakan himself - but as an older man, somewhere around 70. So that his claims wouldn't be refuted, Hakvan filmed himself jovially embracing… himself. The footage even shows the two men showing off their matching tattoos.

Time Traveler Discovers the Secrets of Macedonia
Pasko Kuzman is a Macedonian archaeologist whose findings are considered incredibly important in his field — oh, and he's also a self-proclaimed time traveler. He wears multiple watches on one arm, which he says help him travel through time: one takes him back to the Bronze and Neolithic Age, one takes him to the future, and the third is "The Archeologists' Watch," which alerts him to the presence of gold. Could his archeological fame be due to actually having visited the past?

Time Traveler?:A Woman Talking On Cell Phone In 1928

Time Traveler? Video Shows What Appears To Be A Woman Talking On Cell Phone In 1928

Perhaps piqued by the awesome Back to the Future reunion, the internet has been buzzing about video footage that appears to show a woman talking on a cellphone…in 1928. The footage is from the premiere of Charlie Chaplin‘s film The Circus and was spotted by Belfast filmmaker George Clarke. It shows a woman walking by the camera, talking with her hand to her ear, seemingly holding something to it. Was she just wasn’t happy with the movie’s DVD restoration and felt the need to transcend time to see it on the big screen? It’s hard to say.

I’m going to take a wild guess and say that this isn’t real – what with time travel being declared impossible by most physicists and also the whole lack of cell towers in 1928 but, hey, I’m a skeptic. Still, like the time traveling hipster photo that was making the rounds a few months ago, it’s fun to believe. However, do we really want time travel to be a reality? Obviously, such important speculative fiction as Timecop have already shown the inherent dangers. And, besides, if Lea Thompson can still look hot 25 years later, maybe we don’t even need it.
Check out the video below. The footage starts around 2:40:

Huge 'Zombie' Alien Planet Rises from the Dead

An enormous alien planet that some astronomers thought was dead and buried has come back to life, a new study suggests.

A new analysis of observations from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope found that the bright nearby star Fomalhaut does indeed host a huge exoplanet, which scientists dubbed a "zombie" world in an aptly Halloween-themed video on the alien planet. This conclusion contradicts other recent studies, which determined that the so-called planet — known as Fomalhaut b — is actually just a giant dust cloud.

"Given what we know about the behavior of dust and the environment where the planet is located, we think that we're seeing a planetary object that is completely embedded in dust rather than a free-floating dust cloud," co-author John Debes, of the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, said in a statement.

The saga of Fomalhaut b began in November 2008, when Hubble astronomers announced that a planet circled Fomalhaut, which lies 25 light-years away in the constellation Piscis Austrinus. Fomalhaut b was the first alien world ever directly imaged in visible light, they said.

The planet was spotted just inside a vast debris ring surrouding but slightly offest from the star. Based on Fomalhaut b's location and mass — estimated to be less than three times that of Jupiter — astronomers thought the planet's gravitational pull likely explained the ring's appearance. [Gallery: The Strangest Alien Planets]
But other scientists subsequently cast doubt on Fomalhaut b's existence. Some have argued that the object is just a short-lived dust cloud, citing the brightness variations reported by the discovery team and the fact that NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope has been unable to pick up its infrared signature.

The doubters also pointed to Fomalhaut b's apparent motion, saying it was moving in an orbit too fast and out of line with the debris disk to have sculpted it.
But the new study detects the planet all over again, in a fresh analysis of Hubble observations from 2004 and 2006. The research team spotted Fomalhaut b in three different wavelengths of visible light. The astronomers did not detect any brightness variations this time around, further bolstering Fomalhaut b's planethood case.
"Although our results seriously challenge the original discovery paper, they do so in a way that actually makes the object's interpretation much cleaner and leaves intact the core conclusion — that Fomalhaut b is indeed a massive planet," said lead author Thayne Currie, an astronomer formerly at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md., and now at the University of Toronto.

The new study also pins down Fomalhaut b's orbital characteristics, finding that the planet's gravity could indeed be shaping the debris disk, researchers said.
"What we've seen from our analysis is that the object's minimum distance from the disk has hardly changed at all in two years, which is a good sign that it's in a nice ring-sculpting orbit," said co-author Timothy Rodigas of the University of Arizona.
The team also attempted to spot Fomalhaut b in the infrared using Hawaii's Subaru Telescope but came up empty. The non-detections with Subaru and Spitzer imply that the planet's mass must be less than twice that of Jupiter, researchers said.
The study has been accepted for publication in The Astrophysical Journal Letters. Another team targeted the Fomalhaut system with Hubble in May; their results are expected to be published soon
