What is a Favicon

A favicon (short for "favorite icon") is a small, square icon that represents a website. It typically appears in the browser's tab next to the page title, in bookmarks, and sometimes in the browser's address bar. Favicons help users quickly recognize and identify a website when they have multiple tabs or bookmarks open.

Favicons are usually 16x16 pixels in size, but modern websites may provide larger versions (32x32 or 48x48 pixels) to accommodate high-resolution displays. They are usually saved in .ico, .png, or .svg formats. Websites use them to improve their branding and provide a more polished user experience.

To insert it into your Blogspot, follow these steps:

How to Add a Favicon to Blogspot:

  1. Download the Favicon:

    • First, download the favicon image you created to your computer.
  2. Convert the Image (optional):

    • If your image is not already in .ico format, you can use online tools like favicon.io or convertico.com to convert your image to a favicon file (.ico). Blogspot accepts .png, but .ico is often preferred.
  3. Access Blogger Settings:

    • Log in to your Blogger account and go to your blog's Dashboard.
  4. Navigate to Layout:

    • In the left sidebar, click on Layout.
  5. Favicon Section:

    • At the top of the layout page, you’ll see a section called Favicon. Click Edit on the Favicon gadget.
  6. Upload Your Favicon:

    • A popup will appear. Click Choose File and upload your favicon image (either .ico or .png).
  7. Save Changes:

    • Click Save in the popup, and then Save Arrangement at the top right of the layout page.
  8. Clear Cache (Optional):

    • If you don’t see the new favicon right away, you may need to clear your browser cache or wait a few minutes for the change to take effect.

After completing these steps, your favicon should appear in your browser tab when you visit your blog!
