The Dream of Floating Under High Voltage Pylons
When I was about 18, I used to have a recurring dream, both fascinating and disconcerting. In this dream, I saw myself floating in the air, suspended no higher than the height of high voltage power lines. It was a feeling of freedom, as if the weight of the world had been lifted off me, allowing me to float effortlessly.
However, this freedom came with a limitation. I could not rise higher than the height of the power lines. Two things prevented me from doing so: a dense fog that enveloped the air above me, obscuring everything beyond, and the fear of the power lines. I knew that if I tried to pass through the fog without being able to see, I risked touching those wires and being electrocuted.
As I floated, I felt a mixture of emotions. On the one hand, there was the feeling of freedom as I rose above the ground, leaving behind everything that anchored me to the earth. But at the same time, there was a sense of incompleteness, a longing to go higher, to break through the fog and discover what lay beyond. Yet fear of the unknown and danger held me back.
