Network Management Type
Indicates the manageability of the switch. Unmanaged switches have no configuration interface or options; they are plug and play.
Managed switches have one or more methods to modify the operation of the switch.
The managed switch includes two sub-classes:
(1) Enterprise Managed (or fully managed) switches, which have a full set of management features, including CLI, SNMP agent, and web interface, and may have additional features to manipulate configurations.
(2) Smart (or intelligent) switches, which feature a limited set of management features.
